About Mic and Sound Test

Mic and Sound Test is a small set of audio tools: a microphone test, a decibel meter, a speaker test, a tone generator and a hearing frequency test. They run in your browser on phones, tablets and computers. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

Your microphone audio is analysed live on your own device and is never recorded to a server or uploaded. The optional 5 second recording on the mic test lives only in your browser tab's memory.

The tools are built to be safe to use: no sound ever plays without a click, tones start quietly and fade in and out, and everything stops when you leave the page or switch tabs.

The decibel meter is honest about its limits. Phone and laptop microphones are not calibrated, so its readings are estimates, and you can set your own calibration offset.

The site is free to use and funded by ads.
